A Sash lock is a device that flicks across your UPVC door to add extra security, it acts a bit like bolts do on a wooden door. These can be fitted cheaply and can be matched to the colour of your door. This will prevent anyone gaining entry even it they have a key.

Alarm systems can at times seem expensive, so a possible alternative is to fit a dummy box. This is no substitute for a real alarm system, but opportunistic thieves may think twice about breaking into your property if they think an alarm may be triggered.
